Church Office Manager

$12 – $15 an hour – Part-time
The office manager provides administrative support to the pastor and other church staff and leaders; produces documents, such as weekly bulletins and flyers; and helps maintain the church website, social media pages, member database and other records.
Additionally, the office manager:
Facilitates communication, organization, and social networking for the office, groups, and individuals within the congregation
Creates publicity for print and electronic media
Manages the office space and resources shared by staff and volunteers
Manages facility use by community groups in cooperation with the Property Committee
Orders office and other church supplies
Provides welcoming service to the public and the church community
Works collaboratively in a team environment
Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Gathers, organizes, and proofreads written material for accuracy, readability, and interest
Highly proficient at word processing
Uses spreadsheets with formulas and charts
Learns on the job, adapting to changes in software and office equipment; and the schedule, skill sets and working styles of church staff and volunteers
Balances attention to both detail and the time management of larger projects
Works well under time constraints, incorporating last-minute contributions and changes to projects
Shows discretion, care, and sensitivity in response to members’ personal information
Seeks creative alignment of office communication with the values and mission of the church
Experience with WordPress or other web publishing platforms
Desktop publishing, Adobe InDesign, basic graphic design
Familiarity with Mac OS
Familiarity with cloud applications like Google Drive and Calendar or MS Office 365
Flexible, but ideally with regular blocks of time Monday to Friday
Paid leave for federal holidays and two weeks each year for personal or sick leave, at the discretion of the employee

The church office manager is directly responsible to and takes direction from the pastor.
Any information concerning a member (whether about health, habits, giving, personal problems, background, pastoral counseling, etc.) that is gained through the church office or by staff may not be shared with anyone outside the church office unless permission is explicitly given by the member. Permission is not to be assumed.
All purchases for the office shall be approved by the pastor or appropriate committee member.
The pastor shall be notified in advance of absences or late starting. Absences due to sickness shall be reported to the pastor at least 1/2 hour prior to employee’s start time.
