Building Unified Community

Series:
Passage: John 17: 20-26
Service Type:

"So where does this leave us in terms of the core value Building Community and today specifically, Building Unified Community.  For me, the key phrase from the core value is “We are a church family.”  A family in the best of ways.  Now, family is a loaded term- due to the nature of those complicated relationships between parent and child, brother and sister.  We all know what I’m talking about.  But family in its best sense is this deep connection which Frederick Buechner describes as “a web so delicately woven that it takes almost nothing to set the whole thing shuddering or even to tear it to pieces. Yet the thread its woven of is as strong as anything on earth.”  And so here we build a new family according to the teachings of Christ that as children of God, we are also brothers and sisters to each other.  We’ve chosen to be in the most delicate of relationships with one another, a family, a faith family committed to loving one another in the manner that Christ loved us."
