Long, Dark Days

Series:
Passage: Isaiah 9:1-4
Service Type:

"We are still a people that walk amidst darkness, but Jesus is God and shares the light of God with us. If darkness is present in those things that persecute, imprison, entrap, demean, and destroy us, then we must not look to those very same things to rid our darkness. Rather, if Christ is the light that shines, may we learn to reflect his light to push away darkness. I love the way the Apostle Paul says it in Romans 12, “Overcome evil with good” — overcome darkness with light. Or as Martin Luther King Jr said, 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction ... The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation. '"
